FAMILY DEVOTION

Bible Focus:

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

 Discovery Point:

Love God all the time.

 Key Verse:

“And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)

Love God All the Time

I JUST…DON’T…LOVE YOU

With your family, read Deuteronomy 6:4-9. We can kind of like broccoli or put up with a song. But we can’t just sort of love God. We need to love God with our whole hearts. That means that we need to live for God when we’re at school, home, church, or anywhere! Make this heart mobile as a reminder to love God with every little piece of your heart.

LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART…

Fold a piece of red construction paper in half. Starting at the fold, cut out half of a heart. Cut another heart out of the heart you made. Keep cutting smaller hearts out of the hearts. Write Deuteronomy 6:5 on a colored index card. Use string and tape to make a heart mobile. Hang it up where you’ll see it every day.

Gather your family around the mobile you created, and take turns sharing one way God fills up your heart. Come up with one idea for each of the cut-out hearts on your mobile.

ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS:

How does loving God help you when you’re sad?

How does loving God help you when you’re angry?

How does loving God help you when you’re scared?

How does loving God help you when you’re happy?

FAMILY CHALLENGE:

Share with your family one way you’ll love God in an everyday task. Maybe you’ll thank him for a nice bed while you’re making it each morning. Be creative!

The Cheerful Giver

He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.
