Our History
IT'S OFFICIAL
The first members officially joined on June 21, 2005. They were Carla, W.R. “Tre” III and Ashton M. Norful; LaShaunn Tappler; Dallas, Cordelia, Dallas Jr., and Gabrielle Scott; Bradford, Angela, Bradford Jr., and Barbara Armstrong; April Davis; Miguel Calhoun; Miguel and Tierra Goodum; and Karen Jones.
It was a very moving and powerful embarking upon the life of God’s chosen church, Victory Cathedral Worship Center (VCWC). In an effort to allow the members an opportunity to take part in the development of the church, Pastor Smokie gave out a form that outlined the importance of a name, according to the Bible. The form then asked the members to offer suggestions from a multiple choice of endings: Victory Cathedral a.) Worship Center b.) Church c.) of Bolingbrook d.) Christian Center.
After prayer and consideration, Pastor Smokie Norful was convinced that Worship Center best described the mission and vision of the church. Thus, Victory Cathedral Worship Center became the name of the ministry.

THE NEXT NINETY DAYS
For the next three months, Pastor Norful and members spent time in an intense spiritual preparation for the ministry opportunities to come. The lessons were extensive on Vision and Stewardship, led by Pastor Derrick Hughes of OmniVision – The Church Doctors. Spiritual development, readiness and specific ministry training were graciously led by Pastor Michael Reynolds and the New Life Church. During this time of training and preparation, the ministry grew to 28 members who were equipped to begin the ministry of the church.
THE LAUNCH
The official launch of the church was on September 20, 2005 at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, IL. There were approximately 1,100 people in attendance and the sermon title was “Turn Around, It’s Behind You.” The power of God and effectiveness of the anointing made it evident that Victory Cathedral was a much needed and promising addition to the community of Bolingbrook and its surrounding areas.

AN AMPLIFIED VISION
God gave Pastor Norful the vision to edify, equip and empower people everywhere through the inspired word of God. And in September 2008, the vision and mission of VCWC expanded to its second location, the south side of Chicago. Worship services are held weekly in Chicago Vocational Career Academy.
God has used VCWC to find thousands who were lost. VCWC's membership has grown to more than 5000 members, becoming one of the fastest growing churches in the Chicagoland area.
In 2012, we launched our Global Campus, which has reached people in more than 40 countries around the globe.
